Extraction without heat

Most extraction methods rely on heat, high pressure or large amounts of liquid solvent. Our process works at close to room temperature and low pressure, on machines we design and build ourselves.

The closed loop
Closed-loop extraction schematicDried biomass enters the extraction vessel. The solvent carrying the extract flows to separation, where the extract leaves the loop. The solvent vapour goes to recovery, is condensed and returns to the vessel.Dried biomass inExtract outSolvent vapourSolvent recovered, reused1234
  1. Step 1: Extraction vesselDried biomass is loaded and the solvent passes through it.
  2. Step 2: SeparationThe solvent evaporates in one chamber. The extract stays behind.
  3. Step 3: Solvent recoveryThe solvent is collected in another chamber and used again for the next extraction.
  4. Step 4: Extract outThe extract leaves the loop. Base and packaging follow your specification.

Process facts

Raw material
Dried biomass only: fruits and seeds, herbs, roots and flowers.
Capacity
About 600 kg of dried biomass per day.
Solvent loop
Closed. The solvent never leaves the system and is used again for the next extraction.
Flammability
A non-flammable process. No flammable solvent is used in production.

For your extract

Why the process matters for your extract

  • Close to room temperatureThe plant material is never heated during extraction, so heat-sensitive and volatile compounds stay in the extract.
  • The full spectrum of the plantEvery Tetra extract is a full-spectrum extract: it keeps the broad range of compounds found in the plant, rather than a single isolated one.
  • SelectiveThe process takes up the compounds that matter and leaves much of the wax and pigment behind, so the extract needs little clean-up afterwards.
  • Gentle solvent removalThe solvent evaporates at low temperature, so it is removed from the extract without heating.
  • Closed loopThe solvent never leaves the system: it evaporates in one chamber, is collected in another and is used again for the next extraction.
  • A non-flammable processNo flammable solvent is used in production.

Dried biomass only

We extract exclusively from dried plant material, never from fresh. Dried biomass is a stable raw material: it can be stored, handled and extracted consistently.

After extraction

The extracted plant material goes to composting or biogas production.

Equipment

We build the machines we run

We design and build our own extraction machines, and machines from every generation are running in production facilities.

We also build them for companies that want to extract in their own facility. Specifications on request.

Questions

Questions and answers

Why only dried biomass?

It is a stable raw material that can be stored and handled well before extraction.

Is the extract heated?

No. Neither the plant material nor the extract is heated, during extraction or when the solvent is removed.

What yield can I expect?

Every plant and every batch differs, so we don’t publish figures. We discuss realistic results for your material with you.
